At the end of this year, HP will be dropping support for most of their Gen 7 line of products. By May of next year, all HP Proliant G7 products will be unsupported by HP. This was certainly not a cheap date, however storage was meant to be put in production for 5-7 years which was longer than the recommended life of a server at just 3 years. Most companies opted to replace everything at 3 years because of creative accounting and OEM’s refusing to offer 4th year maintenance on a barely broken-in storage array. Many companies invested in Isilon technology for its flexibility as well as the superior customer service. We have now come to a time when most Isilon Legacy X and NL series are no longer supported by EMC/Dell. At the end of October this year, all of these systems will be EOSL and the only way to get support is through third party.
